With the help of a friend of mine we started work on customizing the grille of my 1957 Chrysler. I purchased 5 chrome bullets from Wirth custom automotive and started fabbing them inside the grille opening. First look looks promising I think. Still to make are the sides of the grille and for the finishing touch we need to install perforated steelplate behind the bullet to block view to the radiator frame again.
Also the chrome bumper can be seen in this picture, which have been mounted a couple of weeks earlier.

Here’s a pic of the Vintage looking Hurst Racing whitewall Tires mounted on a set of Astro Supreme wheels. I think this captures the old style dragtire and cool look very well. The wheels will be mounted on my ’60 NewYorker pretty soon.

With some friends I went to the Mopar Nationals meeting in Herten Germany with my 1960 Chrysler NewYorker on the 31st of July. The meeting was great with lots of cool Mopars around.
Later on the day we went to a local airstrip and we had some great fun on the dragstrip aswell.

I scored a set of Long ram intake manifolds recently. Since the long rams on the ’60 NewYorker seem to work very nicely, I couldn’t resist not to buy this set for another project.

Recently it occured to me that I’ve had this car in my possession for over 10 years already, and practicly never did anything to it, so I decided it was best to let it go and sell it to someone who has more plans with it.

I received a pair of fenderskirts from a good fellow from Florida recently. I wanted to know how they would look on the ’57 Chrysler. I think they’re allright once they’ve been painted and mounted properly.

What to do with 4 bigblock Mopar camshafts and a spare flexplate? Well make a stool out of it ofcourse!

Last saturday evening we had our first carmeet of the year here in town, so I was able to bring the ’57 Chrysler for it’s first meeting-outing. A friend from the east of the country who had helped a lot on the car had come over for the meeting aswell.
The weather looked pretty bad all day but it cleared up to the evening. All night was dry, but cold. Around 22.00hr we left, luckily at the right time, as just when we got back at the garage the rain really started coming down at that time.

For the ’60 Chrysler I had some special dragradials made by Hurst Racing Tires in California. They use a brand new tire on which they vulcanise a vintage style tireshape in a soft rubbercompound, perfectly suited for dragracing. They also shave down the raised white lettering on the tires to end up with a nice whitewall.
Besides the extra grip these tires provide, I have also always liked their look so I had a pair made recently.
The tires will be mounted on a pair of Astro Supremes, or perhaps a set of plain steel wheels.

I had ordered a pair of bumpers for the ’57 Chrysler a while ago from “Big M’s Salvage yard” in California, to replace the painted ones on the car at the moment. Chroming my own bumpers would have become insanely expensive so I decided to find another pair.
When the bumpers arrived I noticed I had some work to do by polishing them up to a good shine again.
As each bumper consits of 2 seperate parts, I actually had to polish 4 bumpers in total. Took a bit of work but I think they came out nice.
